Before taking the photograph of your home, please spend a little time considering the following points, they might help you produce the best picture possible.

  • Include your family, pets or even your car if you wish, it's up to you!
  • Always consider your background....do you really need those drainpipes in shot, or could you move along a little to include that gorgeous feature window/doorway/barn door etc?
  • Take your photo on a bright day.
  • If sunny, don't squint at the camera.
  • Don't stand in the shade of the building, e.g. under a porch.
  • Avoid picket fences and too much fiddly detail, including whispy plants.
  • Think about the clothes you will be wearing ~ are they bright enough...or do you really want to be camouflaged into your surroundings?
  • Take several shots and choose the one which shows everything to their best advantage.
